Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief – Slidell, LA

For a week at the end of July, I spent some time in Slidell, LA with a group of other youth from my church on a mission trip. The trip was focused on helping some of the locals repair their houses and lives by doing some construction through an organization called UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). The trip was such an amazing experience and an absolute shock when touring the areas that got the most damage from Hurricane Katrina.

I don’t even know where I would begin with telling stories of the damage and devastation that we saw. So instead, I am going to put up a few pictures of the 250+ that I took and let you see the damage for yourself, remember this is almost a full year after the storm hit and not much has been done as you will see.

If you have any questions or comments, or want to hear some of my stories from the trip, feel free to email me, IM me, or Skype me (Skype name: chris.pund).
