If you are a business owner, you need to make every decision with a lot of care and consideration. Whether you are looking to add a new supplier to your team or you implementing new software, you need to do so with huge amounts of care and consideration. With that being said, below, we will take you through due diligence steps in more detail so you can get a better understanding.

  • Have any checks been conducted already? – Firstly, you will need to figure out whether or not there have been any checks carried out already. It is likely that there are some checks that have already done and published online, so it is worth doing a bit of research online first to see what information is already out there.
  • Check business registrations and public documents – You then need to do a check online to see where the business has been registered. If the business has been registered, this should be public information. All you need to do is search the company online and you should find that there is information on whether or not the business has been registered. After all, the last thing you want to do is use the services of a company that is operating illegally and has not made the effort to set up properly.
  • Research the company name alongside the word ‘scam’ – If you are worried about whether a company is legitimate or not, this is an approach on Google that tends to work very well. There are lots of websites that have been established to determine whether or not companies are scam websites or if they are legit.
  • Read reviews that have been left by others – It does not matter whether you are looking for a new supplier or to download new software, such as an ETL in reverse, it makes sense to read reviews that have been left by others. This can be a good indicator as to whether or not the service or product lives up to the hype. Make sure you read reviews that have been left on independent review platforms. This is important to make sure that the comments are legitimate. No business is going to post negative reviews on their own site after all!
  • Verify their trade accreditations – Finally, there are a number of suppliers that are going to have quality or standards accreditation. This is particularly the case if you are searching for a manufacturing company. There are trade associations that have been established to ensure quality levels are adhered to, so you should always look for this.

As you can see, there are a number of different steps you can follow to do your due diligence and make sure the company or product you are interested in lives up to your high standards. After all, the last thing anyone wants to do is cut corners when making decisions that can impact the quality of their company and how it is viewed in the eyes of others.
