There are a number of tools that you will see mentioned time and again when it comes to managing, growing, and general maintenance of your business. One of these tools is Google analytics.

Although Google has a wide range of tools that it is worth getting familiar with, it is always important to find what works for you. In most cases learning Google analytics is going to be for your benefit.

Google Analytics gives you a range of insights, and this can help you shape your business. It will enable you to understand where your readers or clients are coming from. As well as vital information about the demographics.

Here are just a few of the things that Google Analytics can do to help your business.

Tracking campaigns

One of the things that you will be looking to do as a business is to acquire more customers. And how do you do this? By creating compelling campaigns that enable you to speak directly to your customers. Google Analytics allows you to measure how well these campaigns are doing.

If you’ve created an amazing email campaign to target a very specific set of customers, called a segment, you’re going to want to keep track of which emails are bringing people in and converting.

Search terms

If you want to keep people coming to your website, known as attracting traffic, Google is your one-stop shop to increase visibility. When you have all of the insight that Google Analytics provides you, you can then create the right keywords and search terms for all the content that you create.

Google Analytics will let you see which of those keywords are attracting visitors and which ones aren’t.

Bounce rate

The bounce rate is how many people come in and then leave. It means that there are users that come to your website, might visit a page or two, and then do not find what they are looking for. When you have Google Analytics set up, you can check why you have a high bounce rate and fix it.

Usually, the first step to improving your bounce rate is to optimize your site. One of the issues is that it could be attracting irrelevant traffic.

Where your visitors came from

You get an in-depth understanding of your referral traffic. This means where people have started and then got to your website. Say, for example, you have set up a social media marketing campaign. You can have a look at where your traffic is coming from to find out the most effective platform.

This will be your visitor source, and also means that you can capitalize on that information in the future and invest in marketing on that platform more often.

There are other search engines that you can use, and of course, you want to rank on them all. But Google itself has a huge range of tools, many of which are free, and can help you improve your whole website and the user experience.
