What Motivates Me to Blog? Darren Rowse Answers

Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net was greatful enough to answer the question I posed to him the other day about “What Motivates You to Blog” and here is his response.

Communication – If I had to name one thing that I love most I’d narrow it
down to something around ‘communication’. Most of the things that I’ve
enjoyed in previous jobs have come down to communications either in spoken
or written word – I guess my drive to blog comes down to this.

Helping Others – I’ve always had a passion for helping others. I think with
knowledge comes responsibility to pass on what you know

Love for the Medium – I’m a massive fan of blogging. There’s something about
it that I can’t quite put my finger on that just does it for me. I can’t

It’s a Living – I make 99% of my income from blogging these days. If we want
to make our mortgage repayments and have food on the table I have to blog
each day.

Ego – Few bloggers would admit to it – but I think most of us like the
feeling that others are reading what we have to say. I work hard to keep my
ego in check but the reality is that to some extent it must be a factor in
keeping me going.
