If you’ve got a business idea in mind, and you know the materials you need to accumulate and the money you’re going to have to raise to get it off the ground, now’s the perfect time for you to put your business plan together. You’ve done your research, the next step is to put it into practice.

But you’re going to need to do it properly – you have your first, rough draft, and then you rewrite and rewrite until it’s perfect. Let’s make that whole process a little easier on you. If you’re in need of some pointers to try and set you apart from the others looking to start their very own small business, here’s a couple of ideas to get you started.

Get Some Advice

You’ve probably never written a business plan before, but that shouldn’t hold you back. Don’t let any apprehensions get in the way of your dream; there’s plenty of free advice online for you to follow (with some good templates at least), and there’s quite a few courses or startup meetings you can attend to help you understand what it is you actually have to include.

Giving yourself the best possible chance of securing a loan or an investor that’s interested in your project is only available when you’ve got the information to back it up. Look for some opportunities right now if you’ve never operated in the corporate world before.

Include a Digital Element

Usually, it’s not just a business plan you have to hand over; you’ve got to have the words and stage presence to back it up. When you’re attending a conference with someone who’s willing to invest in the right business or product idea, you’re going to be up against many others. So if you’re out to compete with all the other potential business owners of the day, set yourself apart from the crowd with some digital elements you might not have yet considered.

Depending on your business type, you’re going to want to bring images with you. To make sure those you’re showing your plan to are really getting the picture, why not use an architectural visualization to get your point across? If you’ve got a development you want to put together, and you’ve got the goals for how it’ll look, this is the best way to convince someone to spend their money on you.

If you’ve got data to show, make sure it’s presented in a clear and concise way via visual charts. This makes sure no one gets bored or loses focus when trying to crunch the numbers on their own, and means you don’t come across as lazy in your preparation. You might also want to include some testimonials from potential customers or other interested individuals, to show that you’ve already got a market presence.

Putting a business plan together takes some time and effort, so don’t rush in.
