Where is all the free wifi?

I have been trying to work more remotely while being home on break and not be stuck at the house. It seems to help me to be able to get my posts written as well as get more research accomplished by being able to work from a different location. However, finding the free hotspot locations in the area is the hard part.

I upgraded my phone yesterday to the new RIM Blackberry, the guy tried to sell me an additional service so that I could connect my phone to my laptop and then be hooked into the Verizon network for wifi…I didn’t buy it. So now I am searching for the free spots around our county/city that I can go to get some work done.

I have been working at Barnes and Noble as well as Starbucks previously, but both require some sort of paid subscription to use the internet, or you can buy a one day pass like I have been doing.

So, what is your favorite spot to access free wifi and get some work done? Looks like I will be heading to Panera Bread next time I am going mobile.

Just the other day I spent an hour in a Panera parking lot after the place had closed. It was nice to have full speed wifi rather than my neighbors’ internet…apparently I live by the slowski’s

Nice to hear the signal traveled far enough. I drove around a library parking lot last week trying to find a spot that allowed me to gain access to the network without having to go inside. I had to be pretty close for it to work, but I only needed it for a couple minutes to find a phone number in my email, still worked pretty good.

The public library is a great place! In my town, at least. Can’t wait for our first Panera Bread locations to open here in Canada sometime this year.
