Don’t forget utility bills for your physical space, along with any building work or fit-outs that you need to do at the start. For your online store, this will translate into any design services that you need to procure, or monthly software fees too.

Next, you’ll have to costs that come with producing or sourcing the products you want to sell. Your supplier fees will often vary, but you will still want to do your research here, just to make sure that you’re getting the best price for whatever it is that you need. Sometimes, you can often get a better deal if you make a big order up front. But it’s often only a good idea if you know you have the demand.

Marketing Costs

From here, you’ve then got the cost of marketing. And this doesn’t just refer to hiring an agency or working with a consultant. Because even if you’re doing some of the marketing yourself, you will have your time to account for, the cost of advertising fees, any software packaging that you need to know, and the cost of recruiting people to help you produce marketing material too.
