FOMO = The Fear of Missing out. Entrepreneurs are eternally scared because one opportunity can change a career. It’s hard not to imagine being in Bill Gates’ or Steve Jobs’ shoes all those years ago. The word to concentrate on is “fear.” You are frightened and it’s impacting your confidence. FOMO may be a new thing but it’s affecting businessmen and women in a very real way.

When you look at the title, what you should think is: “Why am I scared?” Is it as bad as it seems? The answer is not really when you have these confidence-building tips by your side. The following is what to keep in mind.

Build A Team

And this isn’t only a reference to the staff or the workforce who are apart of the office. No, it is a shout out to the men and women who work for third-parties. Such as the likes of the accountants that keep you up to date with recent tax changes. Or, the good folks at law firms that help to set up a positive business formation. There is more at Dicksonlegal.com for those who are interested. The point is that experts outside of the company have skills and experience which fill in the gaps. Once the knowledge base is high, the chances of missing out are low.

But Don’t Rely On Them

Yes, it’s wise to delegate to them because they have talents which you don’t. Therefore, they’re bound to have a positive impact whereas you may make things worse. However, humans make mistakes and it’s important to hold their feet to the fire. Plus, one team can’t keep up to date with reams of data. By doing your research, you can bridge the gaps even further and spot opportunities others miss. A good entrepreneur always has their finger on the pulse.

Chill On Social Media

So far, the key to fighting back against FOMO is to be better. Still, there is never going to be a scenario where you know everything there is to know about the industry. Facts and figures will slip through, and that is an occupational hazard. But, there’s a good chance that you may feel bad about the missed opportunity. How do you stop this from happening? The answer is simple: take a social media fast. Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. is where ideas circulate. As a result, give it rest for a while and enjoy the break. Then, go back for more when you’re fresh and rejuvenated.

Sherlock The Competition

Probably the easiest way to avoid missing out is to become a detective. Sherlock Holmes never missed a trick, and you don’t have to either. All you need to do is investigate the competition and analyze their moves. If they invest in a new software program, then ask why. Should they hire a new employee, think about what they have to offer. Some companies merely copy their rivals so that they never lose ground.

Are you scared of missing out anymore? Do you still have FOMO?
